The End Of Summer
I'm at the end of a six month plus period of travel craziness and this last stretch is one of the most hectic yet. I just got back from Milwaukee this weekend and now I'm about to head out to Lebanon, New Hampshire for the week. The only flight I could get leaves from Alexandria and departs at 6:00 am, so I'm about to do another midnight drive to get to the airport before I crash, literally and figuratively.
I haven't filled in the gaps in awhile, so I'll give a quick update. This last week in Wisconsin I was busy making preliminary arrangements for my move. I had four job interviews while I was there and looked at several apartments and condos. Also, I have an additional phone interview scheduled for this week. All of the jobs involved look really interesting and very different with many differing advantages and disadvantages. My interviews all went very well and I should start hearing back on my status in the following week or two. On the apartment front, there are several interesting possibilities, including one place that says they can arrange to have an apartment ready for me to move into in TWO DAYS! Man, that's fast turn around. So, stay tuned because my relocation may happen extremely suddenly depending on how things pan out.
Thinking back, this whole period of travel has been a huge blur. There have been so many really cool places and things that I've seen (I am eventually planning on putting a little photo travelogue together, BTW). This trip to New Hampshire marks the end of a truly unique summer that has brought huge huge changes in my life and a lot of personal growth and I'm sad to see it go, even though it is clearly the right time. I can see why some people enjoy travel jobs so much, even though it pulls you away from the people you're close to and makes it harder to have a sense of "home" at times, but I am looking forward to a time soon when I can reestablish some of the connections that have been difficult (and at times impossible) to maintain while in this transient lifestyle. I truly appreciate the patience shown me by all my friends and loved ones over the past several months. I hope everyone knows that they have been on my mind this whole time and that I love you all more than ever. After seeing and experiencing so many things I find myself more in love with the world and excited at new possibilities than I can explain adequately...and I can't wait to tell you all about the things that have happened to me, what is coming, and what is waiting for us.
